Payroll Tax Supervisor

Job Description

Headfarmer is seeking an experienced Payroll Tax Supervisor for our client in the East Valley. Will lead a team in managing federal, state, and local tax compliance for a high-volume, multi-state operation. This role oversees transaction tax filings, ensures accurate data processing, and supports tax research and process improvement, particularly within a unique fiscal intermediary environment. Full time, Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, hybrid schedule after 90 days.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and develop a team of Tax Specialists, including training, performance evaluations, and workflow management

Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll tax processes and support the broader finance team

Prepare and file original and corrected tax returns and ensure timely tax payments

Research tax requirements for new states or localities and develop compliant processes

Minimize penalties by maintaining a deadline-driven, accurate filing system

Recommend and implement tools to improve tax processing efficiency

Provide ongoing team training and ensure adherence to tax guidelines

Work independently with minimal supervision and a flexible schedule, including evenings or weekends as needed

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

3+ years of multi-state payroll/tax experience

Prior supervisory experience

Advanced Excel skills - V & X LOOKUPs

Strong knowledge of accounting principles

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionallyCompany Description
