Title: Product Director – Tea & Botanical for Doehler USA, Inc. in Cartersville, GA
Duties:
In charge of the development strategy for tea ingredients and extracts for the beverage industry, including new product lines and improving current products.
Identifying market trends in the food & beverage categories pertaining to teas and botanicals holding holistic responsibility to drive and steer the innovation of the product line and generating prototype ideas and beverage formulations, to resonate with the identified trends, so as to drive B2B business growth.
Overviewing, improving and managing tea and botanical extract product portfolio related profitability and optimization (SKU/personnel/equipment/supply chain/logistics) which may include escalating with appropriate internal stakeholders including but not limited to the Business Unit (“BU”) head, Head of operations, Head of supply chain, Head of People & Culture, Head of R&D and CEO - North America, taking the business unit growth strategy into account
Setting up the tea and botanical growth strategy with the Head of the BU to align on the “where to focus” & “how to win” in order to expand the business growth and market share in tea and botanical products.
Adhering to the approved budget for expansion/growth/optimization of the tea and botanical product line and introducing suitable measures to counteract any potential and actual deviations after consulting with the appropriate internal stakeholders.
Stimulating and implementing continuous improvement and standardization initiatives of the production processes and organizational structures, including manufacturing processes and procedures, raw materials and proprietary beverage formulations, to optimize the tea and botanical category offerings, in consultation with the appropriate internal stakeholders.
Turn subject-matter food engineering and food technology expertise into new products, product improvements and actionable product manufacturing methods and processes. Ensure an optimum exchange of information cross functionally between tea and botanicals and other teams and internal stakeholders.
Developing and implementing an innovative, vibrant, competitive and economically sustainable tea and botanical product range and a corresponding portfolio strategy for B2B markets.
Creating and holding product presentations at customers’ (Food and beverage manufacturers) workshops in collaboration with Sales.
Conduct market and competition analysis concerning tea and botanical ingredients and relevant prototypes and provide support to the pricing and sales teams in defining the pricing strategy.
Monitoring and promoting revenue development and sales activities of the tea and botanical products in accordance with defined key performance indicators (turnover, sales, market share etc.).
Compiling tea and botanical extract and category product knowledge in collaboration with R&I and Global Food Safety & Regulatory Affairs, and communicating it during in-house training sessions with other cross-functional teams.
Operative management of innovation projects pertaining to the tea and botanical category in collaboration with Innovation Management, R&D and Sales.
Preparing and conducting trade show appearances in collaboration with Corporate Marketing, geared towards promoting the awareness so as to gain business growth and market share in tea and botanicals category.
Managing selected strategic target accounts and customer projects, including relationship management in consultation with Sales.
Requirements: Master’s degree in Food Science or Food Process Engineering or closely related discipline plus at least five years’ experience as a research and development manager of beverage manufacturer responsible to oversee all R&D projects including product concepts, design manufacturing and co-packing recommendations and go-to-market strategy and guiding team on beverage product development including tea/coffee/juice/energy/health/sports drinks.
