Cache County is seeking a Director of Development Services to lead our Development Services Department and guide the future growth and development of our beautiful county.

In this pivotal role ad the Director of Development Services, you'll be the strategic mind behind our Development Services Department, overseeing the divisions that include planning, zoning, building, and GIS. You'll work closely with the County Council, various committees, and other governmental agencies to ensure our community's growth is both sustainable and beneficial for all while providing technical insight and recommendations related to planning and development policies, goals and objectives. .

The Director of Development Services is a full-time appointed position that is required to work on-site Monday-Friday. What You'll Do:

Lead with Vision: The Director of Development Services will provide strategic direction for the department, developing long-range priorities and action plans that align with the county's goals. You'll advise and liaison with key stakeholders, including the County Council and various boards, commissions and committees.

Manage for Impact: The Director of Development Services will oversee day-to-day operations of office staff and the department, direct the development of ordinances and permitting processes, and ensure compliance with land use regulations, while understanding the legal system and procedures affecting planning, zoning, and related operations of the County. You'll be responsible for the department's budget, staff recruitment, training, and performance management.

Be the Expert: The Director of Development Services will be able to apply your deep understanding of planning, zoning, and subdivision laws to provide technical insights, prepare reports, and lead public meetings. You'll translate complex policies into actionable plans and be able to present the plans in public meetings to elected officials and developers.

Build Strong Teams: The Director of Development Services will foster a collaborative and professional environment, both within your department and with other county entities and the public. Understand, build and maintain strong relationships within local government. You'll be accountable for promoting integrity and open communication.What You'll Bring:

A Master's Degree in Urban or Rural Planning, Public Administration, or a closely related field.

Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in similar duties, including at least two (2) years in a lead or supervisory role. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Current membership in the American Planning Association (APA).

Must hold an AICP Certification, or in process and the ability to obtain it within one year of employment.

A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to drive a vehicle.
