Job Title: Machine Operator
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated machine operator to join our team. The position involves assisting in the machining of large metal parts for production. The operator will become proficient in operating a 4-axis horizontal mill in a process-driven environment. This role offers the chance to work with an industrial parts manufacturer, providing an excellent stepping stone for those interested in pursuing a machining career or staying in a manual machining position. We have current openings on day, swing, and weekend shifts.
Responsibilities
Assist in machining large metal parts for production.
Operate a 4-axis horizontal mill.
Change inserts and clean the work area around the machine.
Ensure proficiency in machine operation and CNC operation.
Read blueprints and follow industrial manufacturing processes.
Utilize hand and measurement tools, including calipers and micrometers.
Set up production runs and use tooling and fixturing effectively.
Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Lift and handle materials weighing 50-75 lbs.
Adjust machine settings for precision cutting.
Maintain proactive workstation preparation and cleanup.Essential Skills
Mechanical inclination and aptitude.
1-3 years of machining experience.
Proficiency with hand tools, calipers, and micrometers.
Basic math comprehension for precise measurements.
Experience in industrial manufacturing environments.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Interest in becoming a production machinist.
Experience running 24" and 36" grinders.
Knowledge of production run set-ups and safety procedures for grinders.

Work Environment
Work in an open industrial machine shop with open bay doors, located at an SSI Machine Shop approximately 0.5 miles from headquarters in Wilsonville, OR. The environment is focused on process-driven production and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilsonville, Oregon.
Shift type: x2 Day Shift: Mon-Thu 3:45am to 3:45pm
x1 Weekend Shift: Fri-Sun 5:00am to 5:30pm ($2.00 shift differential)
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $26.00/hr.
