We’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager who thrives in a product operating model—someone who can lead with heart, think strategically, and roll up their sleeves when needed. Responsibilities
Lead multiple teams of engineers collaborating with product managers, designers, and agilists in a modern “quad” structure.
Champion modernization efforts—think Java, React, APIs, microservices, cloud-native architecture, and continuous delivery.
Drive product discovery and experimentation to validate ideas before building.
Keep your team close to the customer—understand their pain points, fuel innovation, and deliver delightful experiences.
Foster a culture of transparency with clear OKRs, roadmaps, and performance metrics.
Promote engineering excellence through pairing, cross-training, and inner sourcing.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- 10 or more years of experience with developing and implementing applications
- Eight or more years of experience with major tasks, deliverables, formal methodologies and disciplines for delivering new or enhanced applications
Preferred Skills/Experience
Proven experience leading software engineering teams in a product-centric, agile environment.
Hands-on experience with Java, microservices, and modern software architecture.
A track record of driving modernization and transformation initiatives.
Experience in credit card payments - Preferred.
Experience around DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms.
Strong communication skills—you can translate tech-speak into business value and vice versa.
A passion for mentoring, coaching, and helping others grow.
A bias for action, a love for learning, and a sense of humor.
Believe that transparency, trust, and fun are non-negotiables in team culture.
Location Expectations
The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $133,365.00 - $156,900.00
