The Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) is a senior executive responsible for providing strategic leadership, direction, and oversight for all clinical services at Shodair Children’s Hospital. This includes Nursing, Allied Therapy (e.g., Occupational, Physical, Speech), Clinical Education, and inpatient Social Services. The CCO ensures the delivery of high-quality, integrated, and patient-centered care to children and adolescents in both acute and residential behavioral health settings. This role collaborates with other members of the executive team to align clinical operations with the hospital’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities. They will work to develop functional market level strategies, plans, productions, and organizational priorities. The CCO identifies and resolves technical, operational, resource and organizational problems within and outside of their direct team. This role will be integral in forming internal and external strategic relationships, which support program expansion and continued success.

The ideal candidate is someone who can:

Promote a cohesive interdisciplinary care model that supports trauma-informed and evidence-based practices across all clinical departments.

Oversee development and monitoring of departmental goals, budgets, compliance measures, and quality improvement initiatives.

Ensure programs and practices meet all state, federal, and accreditation regulations (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission, CARF).

Drive clinical innovation, assess emerging models of care, and promote use of best practices to optimize outcomes and efficiency.

Demonstrate expertise in child and adolescent behavioral health care, clinical operations, and interdisciplinary team leadership.

Demonstrate a deep understanding of pediatric development, trauma-informed care, and integration of behavioral and educational services.

Required:

Master’s Degree in a clinical or health-related field (e.g., Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Healthcare Administration).

Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a behavioral health or pediatric healthcare setting.

Licensed in a clinical discipline in the State of Montana or any state recognized in a Licensure Compact.

Preferred:

Experience leading multiple clinical departments within a children’s hospital or behavioral health system.

Advanced training or certification in leadership, healthcare management, or quality improvement.
