Laser Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the product is transferred to sorting tables within specification for defect within the specified timeframe and assuring all laser operators have a level of competency in equipment operations to achieve target quality product within station efficiency targets. Additionally, Supervisors, are responsible for knowing the hourly and daily processing goals, achieving those goals, and providing upper management information on why the goals were or were not achieved.

· Accomplishes results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

· Required to follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

· Wherever quality or efficiency targets are not being met, the Laser Supervisor must develop and follow through on a corrective action plan.

· Ensures department is providing product to tables at or exceeding the “clean to tables” specifications and addresses non-conformances through research, training and implementation of appropriate controls and systems in an expedient manner.

· Assures that inventory in maintained accurately during processing following the appropriate traceability system.

· Reports to maintenance any concerns or repairs that that need to be made expediently and contact laser manufacturers for immediate support by phone if issue outside of scope.

· Detects and reports defective incoming materials or questionable conditions to the proper department supervisor for reconciliation prior to processing.

· Involve daily communication with Production Planner regarding the necessary in the operations process. Give verbal and written reports daily to Operations Supervisor and any other necessary personnel to submit appropriate documentation and communication.

· Schedules daily work in laser department by station and personnel effectively to minimize change overs; ensures work is scheduled to be completed in a timely manner by establishing priorities; monitoring and communicates progress; revising schedules as needed; resolves problems; reports results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.

· Monitor production process daily to ensure smooth and efficient flow. Receives and resolve laser operation problems for both shifts. Assure good communication between shifts and shift hand over is occurring in an effective manner.

· Visually inspect products and/or operations to ensure quality of products inbound and outbound.

· Must be able to read, develop and interpret documents such as standard operating procedures, safety rules, and work schedules.

· Must have excellent communication skills and be able to work under limited or no supervision.

· Maintains and improves work flow by studying steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.

· Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.

· Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, root cause analysis, product traceability, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and personnel requirements; implementing change as needed.

· Ensures operation of equipment by working directly with the equipment specialists, maintenance and serving as the contact for laser manufacturers.

· Ability to provide adequate training for the laser programming to the forklift operators on a regular basis.

· Conduct operator evaluations based on efficiency of the programming and cleanliness of the product and provide immediate feedback.

· Oversee laser leads and operators conduct correct daily set up of machinery and equipment prior to production for efficient and effective operation.

· Develops and mentors staff by orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities. Acts as a role model for employees.

· Maintains and enforces a safe, clean workspace around the laser sorting machines daily by ensuring cleaning schedule is completed.

· Perform other related operations as required or directed. May work at different workstations, as production need is required.

· Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

· Must be able to keep personnel and employee performance information confidential.

· Follows and ensures adherence to established Grower Direct Nut Co., local, state, and federal regulations and requirements as well as food safety, sanitation, food production and nutritional guidelines.

· Established and ensures adherence to procedures and standards, which are in agreement with these regulations, requirements and guidelines.

PERFORMANCE/QUALITY OF WORK EXPECTATION

· To understand each laser’s processing rates:

*These rates may be subject to change depending on company needs

· Providing information to upper management on achievability of processing goals

· If goals are not met, responsible for proving information on why goals were not achieved and any reasoning for reduction in efficiency.

· Ensuring operators are reporting equipment downtime for proper documentation and reporting.

· Making laser operators and forklift drivers aware of their daily expectations and holding them accountable for these expectations.

· Ensuring any property damage or accidents are properly documented and reported to Human Resources and additional supervisors/management as needed.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities are not limited to the above mentioned and may include assisting other departments within reasonable and related tasks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands

o Will occasionally stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, taste and smell.

o Will frequently sit and occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl.

o Must use both hands for rapid mental muscular coordination, simultaneously.

o Must be able to reach high and low levels, frequently.

o Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 50 pounds frequently.

o Must lift with arms up to floor to waist, waist to shoulder 50 pounds.

o Must be able to constantly stand/stoop/walk/bend, up to 12 hrs.

o Ability to strenuous flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently (15 flexion/minute).

Work environment

o May work near moving mechanical parts.

o May work around wet or humid conditions, in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and/or risk of vibration.Requirements:

1. Ability to work as part of a team.

2. Excellent communication skills.

3. Ability to perform basic math functions.

4. Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.

5. At least 2 years of forklift driving experience.

6. Machine operating experience.

7. Must have at least a minimal ability to trouble shoot and report issues outside of scope to relevant parties.

8. Must be able to understand, speak, read and write basic English/Spanish

9. Must have knowledge working with tools and have a good mechanical aptitude.
