Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Controls Engineer to lead the design, programming, and implementation of smart, integrated control systems for custom conveyor and material handling solutions. This role offers the opportunity to take technical ownership of projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-quality, on-time results. Ideal for a mid-career engineer ready to grow into a leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
Design electrical systems including schematics, panel layouts, and BOMs
Program PLCs (Allen-Bradley/Studio 5000, GuardLogix) with modular, reusable code
Develop HMI interfaces using FactoryTalk View and/or Ignition
Select and integrate motors, drives, sensors, and safety components
Collaborate with mechanical and project teams on system architecture
Support FAT/SAT testing and technical reviews
Mentor junior engineers and technicians
Contribute to process improvement and engineering standards
Interface directly with customers throughout the project lifecycle
Travel occasionally for commissioning and support (less than 20%) Required Skills
Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming (Allen-Bradley, FactoryTalk, Ignition)
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Excellent documentation and communication skills
Ability to lead and mentor team members
Customer-focused mindset with proactive ownership Required Knowledge
Electrical design and control panel layout (UL508A familiarity a plus)
480VAC 3-phase, 120VAC, and 24VDC systems
EtherNet/IP and other industrial communication protocols
Safety standards (NFPA 70 & 79, ANSI B11, TÜV certification preferred)
Material handling systems and industrial automation Ability to Implement
Translate project requirements into functional control systems
Integrate hardware and software components into cohesive solutions
Conduct system testing and validation
Lead technical discussions with internal teams and customers
