Job Summary
We are seeking a highly qualified individual with expertise in utility power generation to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for initiating and completing comprehensive power generation reports, as well as conducting resource planning activities. This includes preparing inputs for and analyzing outputs from production costing and related analyses for both existing and new generation resources.
Key responsibilities will encompass forecasting fuel and purchased power needs, contributing to corporate budgeting and strategic discussions, managing fuel factor filings, handling other regulatory submissions, and evaluating energy efficiency alternatives. The individual will also be required to prepare and present testimony as a Company witness in regulatory proceedings.
Additionally, the role involves participating in and, when necessary, leading meetings with external stakeholders, in accordance with state-specific regulations pertaining to the development of operating company resource plans.
Job Description
What You’ll Do:
Expert Knowledge: Apply your expertise in production costing and resource planning to provide solutions to senior management.
Regulatory Support: Develop and present testimony for regulatory proceedings as needed.
RTO Compliance: Knowledge of Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) rules and policies.
Reporting: Prepare reports supporting regulatory requirements for avoided costs, fuel filings, and other regulatory filings.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with state auditors and other stakeholders as required.
Capacity Planning: Formulate and communicate capacity/load/reserve (CLR) schedules and collaborate on the CLR process.
Communication: Explain complex generation concepts to stakeholders during the development process.
Procedures Development: Create procedures and reports tailored to specific company needs using model outputs.
Relationship Building: Establish professional relationships with various departments and personnel within the company.
Research Management: Monitor industry developments impacting production costing analyses.
What We’re Looking For:
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field such as engineering, mathematics, computer science, or business (e.g. accounting, finance, economics), or a Bachelor’s degree in a non-analytical field with two years of analytical experience.
Experience Requirements: Three years as a Resource Planning Analyst Principal or twelve years of relative experience (in addition to the experience identified above), specifically in generating plant operations or construction, renewable energy, energy efficiency, commercial operations, RTO operations, or transmission engineering/operations. An advanced degree in an analytical field such as engineering, mathematics, computer science, or business (e.g. accounting, finance, economics) will be considered to be 2 years of relevant experience.
Other Requirements:
Ability to work occasional overtime (weekend/evenings) and/or work remotely.
Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Ability to serve as a witness in regulatory proceedings (may require travel for multiple days).
This position is data and reporting intensive.
Proficient in Microsoft Office product suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), familiarity with Access, SAS, and SQL also preferred.
Experience with PLEXOS or similar software (e.g., AURORA, PROMOD, EnCompass, DAYZER)
