Pay: $18.00/hr,
SUMMARY:
Operate machinery associated with the production of high-precision parts to produce a quality product for our customers. Types of machines operated are single feature machines and/ or complex inspection and testing. May run more than one machine simultaneously.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Observe all safety rules and regulations including wearing and maintaining personal protective equipment. Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition.
Operates equipment in a safe manner.
Participate as a member of work teams. Assist in measuring team performance for safety, quality, delivery and cost. Work with team members, other business functions, customers and suppliers to continually improve these measures.
Participates in Level 3 activities such as scrap and rework elimination projects along with various other kaizen events.
Work from work instructions, prints, in process inspection plans, engineering layouts, customer specification, written and verbal instructions.
Machine parts. Load and unload parts. Operate and adjust machine and equipment to maintain required sizes and finishes. Observe operation and monitor confrols. Make piece inspection and any required adjustnents. Use a variety of gages and other measuring instruments to maintain tolerances, parallelism, concentricity and finish.
Meets quality standards while maintaining expected production rate.
Replace worn/ dull tooling.
Wash and pack parts as required.
Accurately complete required quality and production reports and records using paper and paperless electronic computer applications.
Daily maintenance and cleaning of machines including lubrication. Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment and materials. Detect and report faulty equipment, defective materials, improper operations and/or unusual conditions to supervisor.
Attends required training programs.
Assist in the training of other associates in procedures and use of equipment.
Arrange schedule to meet customer needs.
May be required to use lift equipment as necessary to move and position stock and parts.
Use care to safely lift and balance loads properly.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and write in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work instructions, operating instructions, engineering drawings, in-process inspection plans and procedure manuals. Ability to complete required reports. Good communication skills to interact with coworkers. Ability to participate in team meetings.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers. Ability to use a computer and to accurately enter data into production applications. Ability to read production sheets, graphs, and understand their practical application. Must be able to set up gauges that are used for measuring parts and adjusting machines.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply basic reasoning skills to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions. Ability to detect and identify typical defects found in materials. Ability to troubleshoot problems involving concrete variables in standard situations. Ability to read and use various inspection equipment and precision tools and understand and apply basic inspection and sound measurement practices. Basic knowledge of Level 3 principles.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This role requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, and fine motor skills. Occasional lifting (up to 40 lbs), bending, crouching, sitting, and head/neck movement are also involved. Visual requirements include close and distance vision, depth perception, color differentiation, and focus adjustment (with approved corrective lenses if needed). Must be able to work 10-hour shifts and, at times, six days a week to meet customer demand. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
*At least 9 months of work experience and/or volunteer experience.
*Manufacturing experience preferred.
*Ability to remain productive under indirect supervision and follow verbal and written instructions and techniques.
*Basic mathematical aptitude required
CERTIFICATION/TRAINING REQUIRED
Up to 6 weeks of on the job training to become familiar and confident with essential duties General Orientation
Annual Safety training programs (Hearing Conservation, etc.)
Quality System Awareness Training
Level 3 Training
Certified tow motor operator and/or overhead crane operator (if job requires use).
