The Area Coordinator is expected to work closely with other College personnel to address the social, developmental, and academic needs of our students. Area Coordinators at Carthage are also expected to play a major role in the Student Affairs operation of the institution, taking on a leadership role in a collateral position.

This role is responsible for developing and maintaining a robust and thriving community within their designated residence halls. They will facilitate a comprehensive residential curriculum that encourages students to combine co-curricular experiences with the liberal arts curriculum to enhance their educational and developmental goals. They will maintain a collateral assignment in the Division of Student Affairs. Current collateral assignments are within the Office of Student Involvement and will assist in the supervision of a bachelor's level Hall Director.

Essential Functions:

• Community development responsibilities for residential facilities housing between 460 and 650 students.

• Supervise a bachelor's Hall Director within their assigned community area.

• Hire, train, and supervise a staff of up to twenty Resident Assistants and two Senior Resident Assistants.

• Participate in on-call response and crisis management across campus.

• Work with students, individually and in groups, to resolve concerns related to student success and retention.

• Complete administrative processes that include, but are not limited to: damage billing, opening and closing the residence halls, Room Condition Report audits, etc.

• Serve as a conduct hearing officer for the Community Code and Residential Life policy violations.

• Manage occupancy and room change process for the residence hall.

• Oversee a residence hall programming budget.

• Other collateral assignments as assigned.

Qualifications:

Master's Degree is required

Requires a minimum of 3 months of similar experience

Requirements:

Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with employees, students, and faculty members. •

Ability to use a personal computer and Web browser, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Mail, and Carthage portal.

Knowledge of and the ability to use a variety of standard office equipment such as a telephone and computer keyboard.

Able to perform basic mathematical calculations (such as addition/subtraction) to maintain budget.

Travel occasionally to conduct College business.
