The Maintenance Technician's role is to accomplish the continuous effective freezing and frozen storage of food products and ingredient materials, and cooling of the physical plant buildings through the effective and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of all plant ammonia and nitrogen refrigeration systems and associated freezers, air conditioning, and chilled water systems.
This position's scope includes system operation, preventive maintenance, and mechanical and electrical repair. Key Accountabilities and Outcomes
Keeping logs and other information on operating results and problems
Analyzing information to determine preventive maintenance plan
Troubleshooting problems and physically repairing equipment
Using hand tools and specialty tools for repair and maintenance
Inspecting equipment routinely using sight, sound, and gauges
Reading manuals, blueprints, and information to ensure proper operation and repair
Ordering parts and supplies for maintenance or rebuilding
Maintaining clean work areas in line with GMP requirements
Applying safe work practices and using personal protective equipment
Following good maintenance techniques and applicable codes
Maintaining GMPs for personal hygiene and housekeeping
Meeting product safety and quality requirements
Identifying system problems via data collection and inspection
Developing good working relationships and resolving conflicts respectfully
Cooperating with team goals and attending meetings
Adhering to plant rules, policies, and company ethics
Assisting in training team members as needed
Using electrical, pipe fitting, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills to support other technicians
Required Skills / Experience:
1–3 years hands-on experience maintaining an industrial ammonia refrigeration system (vacuum systems, screw compressors, blast/storage freezers, condensers, chilled water cooling systems)
Experience with nitrogen flash freezers and Reco/Frigoscandia brand freezers highly desired
Electrical, pipe fitting, hydraulics, and pneumatics experience beneficial
Basic business traits: attendance, punctuality, hygiene, and high school level education in communication, reading, and math
Technical training in ammonia refrigeration, nitrogen freezing systems, mechanical/electrical maintenance
Knowledge of microprocessors, 110–480 Volt 3-phase AC electricity, pipe fitting, conduit installation, wiring, pneumatics, hydraulics
Skilled in all aspects of mechanical/electrical maintenance of industrial food freezing systems
Work Schedule: Friday to Sunday, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
