Progressive and rapidly expanding restaurant group in New York is seeking a talented and passionate Omakase Chef to lead the culinary vision for a new, intimate Omakase restaurant in Syosset, NY. This highly anticipated opening will feature a 1214 seat Omakase counter alongside a craft cocktail lounge offering a curated selection of small plates. The restaurant will focus exclusively on dinner service, creating an elevated, guest-focused experience built around quality, artistry, and precision. We are looking for a creative and experienced professional who can play an integral role in shaping the concept from inception to execution.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all aspects of menu development for both the Omakase counter and cocktail lounge small plates
Oversee ingredient sourcing, prep standards, plating, and culinary presentation
Collaborate with ownership and FOH leadership on opening strategy, staffing, and kitchen build-out as needed
Ensure a high level of consistency, quality, and cleanliness throughout kitchen operations
Provide an engaging, hospitable guest experience at the Omakase counter
Contribute to staff training and development with a hands-on leadership style
Qualifications
Prior experience as an Omakase Chef or Sushi Chef in a high-end or award winning, fine dining environment
Strong knife skills, product knowledge, and artistic plating ability
Experience developing unique, seasonal menus
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Dynamic & engaging personality with a passion for hospitality and guest interaction
Open to relocation (assistance provided for the right candidate)
Compensation:
Base salary: $125,000$135,000+ (DOE)
Relocation assistance available on case-by-case basis
