We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager. The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing engineering projects, applying engineering principles and analytic techniques to help improve manufacturing processes and products. This individual will provide hands-on technical support on the manufacturing floor and help optimize equipment layout, sequence of operations, and deployment of lean manufacturing techniques.
The Engineering Manager is responsible for establishing goals and objectives for the business and managing the assets assigned to the engineering department. The Engineering Manager is also responsible for achieving or exceeding the expected performance levels in the areas of safety performance, customer satisfaction, employee productivity, financial performance, quality performance and work ethic.
Key Responsibilities:
Directs, trains, and motivates employees for an efficient and effective workforce
Provides professional development where applicable in assigned areas
Builds effective teams and provides support as requested by team
Understands customer requirements and determines how to deploy and manage people, equipment, and tooling to meet those requirements and support the plant objectives
Identify method improvements to continually improve the process of doing work through a lean operations implementation and thought process
Has responsibility to see that all business dealings of the value stream are carried out in accordance with all plant, corporate, local, state, and federal laws and requirements
Works with all senior managers to determine, implement and enforce plant rules and policies
Performs as a valued member of the senior leadership team
Responsible for timely research, completion, and submission of capital proposals for projects
Implement project work such as equipment receipt and installation with vendors, manufacturing engineers, maintenance and production. Including testing, run-offs and capability studies
Present engineering drawings of new and proposed projects, plant layouts, and equipment modifications
Oversee the documentation and generate cost date related to project activities
Implement process technologies in manufacturing equipment
Assist Development Group to implement needed equipment to improve friction products implemented in the facility
Evaluate equipment, tooling and process problems and failures
Assist and lead miscellaneous projects that could include cost reduction, scrap reduction, process improvement
All other responsibilities as assigned
Education: BS in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
Skills & Experience:
5+ years of manufacturing experience
2+ years of supervisory or management experience
5+ years’ experience working with general manufacturing methods, materials, processes and systems
Proven experience in the application and implementation of Lean Manufacturing Principles
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Analytical troubleshooting
Problem-Solving techniques
Principles of ergonomics, constraint management and visual pull
Products produced in the value stream and costs related to the value stream processes
