We are looking for a skilled Grant Accountant to join a team on a long-term contract basis in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This role involves managing post-award grant accounting processes, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and maintaining financial accuracy through detailed reporting and reconciliation. The ideal candidate will have exceptional analytical skills, a solid understanding of grant management, and proficiency in advanced Excel functions.
Responsibilities:
• Manage post-award grant accounting tasks, including account reconciliation, salary reallocations, and the preparation of detailed financial reports.
• Ensure compliance with grant terms, organizational policies, and reporting guidelines, addressing discrepancies and escalating issues as appropriate.
• Reconcile accounts for grants of varying sizes, including high-volume small grants and larger research and development projects.
• Utilize advanced Excel tools to conduct financial analyses and manage grant-related data efficiently.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the Assistant Controller and Office of Research, to streamline grant accounting processes.
• Prepare and present accurate financial reports, oversee budget reallocations, and provide insights into project funding status.
• Effectively manage high volumes of grant accounting tasks while maintaining precision and proper documentation.
• Support onboarding processes for new staff, ensuring smooth knowledge transfer and continuity in grant accounting operations.
• Apply critical thinking to verify financial data accuracy and ensure compliance with organizational and grant-specific standards.
