Job Title: OTR Hotshot Driver (Non-CDL & CDL)

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Hotshot Driver to join our team. You will be responsible for operating a pickup truck and trailer combination to transport time-sensitive, partial loads across various distances. Your primary duties include safely loading, securing, and transporting goods and materials, ensuring compliance with all DOT and company regulations. The ideal candidate has experience with trailer operation, a pristine safety record, and a strong understanding of load securement principles.

Responsibilities

Safely operate a pickup truck and attached trailer (e.g., gooseneck, flatbed) to transport goods to specified destinations.

Plan and execute the most efficient and safest routes of travel.

Adhere strictly to delivery schedules and communicate any delays promptly.

Perform daily, comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer, reporting any issues immediately.

Maintain an accurate and detailed electronic driving log (ELD) for hours of service (HOS), rest periods, and fuel expenses.

Comply with all federal (FMCSA), state, and company driving laws and safety policies.

Provide excellent customer service upon pickup and delivery.

Load Securement Duties

Properly secure all cargo to prevent shifting, falling, or leaking during transit, using approved devices such as chains, straps, binders, and tarps.

Ensure the aggregate working load limit (AWLL) of the securement system is at least 50% of the weight of the cargo being secured.

Calculate the required number of tie-downs based on cargo length and weight, following DOT regulations (e.g., a minimum of two tie-downs for loads over 5 feet long, and additional tie-downs for every 10 feet of length).

Utilize chocks, wedges, or cradles to restrain any articles likely to roll.

Apply edge protection to prevent tie-downs from being cut or abraded by the cargo.

Inspect all securement equipment for damage or wear before each use and remove any defective components from service.

Confirm that the load is balanced and distributed correctly on the trailer for safe handling.

Qualifications

For all drivers:

Proven experience operating a truck and trailer combination is highly preferred.

A clean driving record is mandatory.

Must be able to pass a background check and DOT drug screening.

Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA cargo securement regulations.

Familiarity with GPS navigation and ELD systems.

Willingness to travel over the road for extended periods.

Excellent time-management and problem-solving skills.

For CDL drivers:
