Job Title: Assistant Manager Crop and Livestock Farm

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Crop and Livestock Farmer to join our team. The farm is located 55km out of Esperance, offering a dynamic role in a beautiful regional setting. We run a merino breeding program based on Lifetime Ewe Management (LTEM) principles with a focus on data collection. The potential candidate will need experience with Tru-test & BreedElite eID equipment, experience with lamb marking and DNA sampling proficient the use of excel spreadsheets.
We operate with John Deere machinery, and experience with the John Deere GreenStar system is required. Accommodation is not provided. The primary duties include:
• Manage the stock operation with good communication with the Farm Manager;
• Overseeing health and welfare of stock including drenching, needling, back lining;
• Running the process of joining, scanning, lamb marking, crutching, weaning, and shearing;
• Analysing pastures and making accurate assessments;
• Operating feed carts, hay rollers, augurs, tractors, and feeding sheep;
• Working alongside team members to manage data, nucleus stud classing, genetic testing, and ram selection/purchasing;
• Maintaining records and data necessary for the livestock program workplace obligations to be met;
• Fencing and water monitoring and other farm maintenance tasks;
• General farm duties including crop management, soil preparation, planting, and harvesting
• Complying and contributing to overall farm safety obligations
Required Skills/Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in livestock and crop farming;
• Knowledge of sheep husbandry practices and crop cultivation;
• Experience with John Deere GreenStar3 system is essential;
• Experience with BreedElite & TruTest eID equipment.
• Ability to operate farm machinery safely and effectively;
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills;
• Self-starter with good time management skills;
• Excellent record-keeping and data management abilities;
• Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
• Experience with excel
• HR truck licence
