About The Position

Job Title: Physician Assistant - Trauma Surgery Profession: Physician Assistant Specialty: Surgery - Trauma Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Varied 12-hour shifts or 24-hour shifts Hours per Shift: 12 or 24 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in trauma surgery required License: Active Ohio license required, DEA required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, ATLS, Board Certified required Must-Have: - Previous experience in trauma surgery required - Specific availability for listed dates at time of application Description: Looking for temporary Physician Assistant coverage in Trauma Surgery. Dates of coverage include various shifts in July and August. The reason for coverage is to provide support while a full-time provider is on medical leave. Practice setting is inpatient, with daily rounding, new consults, and admits. Average number of patients per day ranges from 6 to 12. Documentation system is Epic. This position is within a Level 2 trauma designation. The Physician Assistant will not work autonomously, as a supervising physician will be present during the assignment. The trauma attending surgeon will be available for support and typically takes call from home but can respond within 15 minutes or via phone call. Required procedures and functions include: - Suturing minor lacerations - Responding to the emergency department for trauma alerts - Performing surgical consultations - Handling emergency room admissions - Facilitating patient discharges - Participating in house codes and rapid response team activities - Completing FAST exams at the bedside and reporting to the oncoming provider - Providing general surgery coverage for specific hours Specialty backup is available for procedures if needed from various medical subspecialties. The demographic includes treating and stabilizing patients from birth to geriatric age. The expected credentialing timeframe is ASAP. Travel reimbursement for lodging is available at standard rates.
