This role requires a strong understanding of machining principles, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to quality and safety.
Responsibilities:
Set Up and Operation:
Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to determine machining requirements, dimensions, and tolerances.
Set up CNC lathe machines, including selecting and aligning appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials (e.g., metals, plastics, alloys).
Load raw materials into the machine and ensure proper positioning.
Adjust machine settings, such as cutting speeds, feed rates, and depth of cut, to optimize performance and product quality.
Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or deviations from specifications and make necessary adjustments.
Programming and Troubleshooting:
Read, edit, and optimize CNC programs (G-code) to ensure efficient and accurate machining processes.
Troubleshoot machining issues, diagnose equipment malfunctions, and resolve problems promptly to minimize downtime.
Quality Control:
Conduct in-process and final quality assurance checks on finished parts using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure adherence to specified tolerances and quality standards.
Identify and report any defective outputs or inconsistencies.
Document inspection results and maintain accurate production records.
Maintenance and Safety:
Perform routine maintenance on CNC lathe machines and tooling to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
