Responsibilities

The Vice President & Controller is responsible for the development and execution of internal and external accounting functions, including all transactional and financial reporting areas. This position is in charge of monitoring the activities of the FASB and evaluating the impact of proposed standards on the Company. This position is also responsible for the overall strategy of the accounting function and working cross-functionally with other leaders to execute the Company’s goals from an accounting, internal controls, and reporting perspective.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure accurate and timely reporting of the Company’s financial performance in accordance with GAAP requirements, including management of the close process and external reporting activities

Develop, evaluate, and maintain accounting policies and establish appropriate internal controls being mindful of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements

Monitor financial standards and determine applicability and impact to the Company and proactively address accounting changes

Evaluate and implement processes that enable efficiencies and create cost savings for the Company

Manage relationships with executives and external parties, including providing education around accounting and financial architecture of the Company

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; MBA preferred

Experience: 15+ years of experience in financial and/or external reporting; 10+ years of management experience; audit experience with Big Four public accounting firm through Manager level; CPA required

Preferred Requirements (skills and abilities)

Experience in retail industry

Experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller of a large privately held or publicly-traded company

Management of large teams and desire to develop high performance individuals

Ability to provide strategic direction and leadership

Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and internal controls

Strong operational and technical capabilities, including experience with researching complex accounting issues

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Strong attention to detail

Expert knowledge of US GAAP with SEC reporting a plus

Excellent time management and organizational skills with ability to be flexible

Experience with creating budgets/forecasts and performing analysis

Manage relationships with, and expectations of, external parties, including external auditors, audit committee, banks and bank-engaged auditors/appriasers, rating agencies, etc.

Ability to work cross-functionally with others across the Company as well as independently
