Skills for Chicagoland\'s Future
Is a Chicago-based nonprofit that removes barriers to employment by eliminating biases that disqualify candidates unnecessarily. Working with local and global companies, Skills brings opportunities to neighborhoods and municipalities throughout the Chicagoland area. To be eligible for Skills for Chicagoland’s Future’s services, candidates must reside in Illinois or Indiana, and be either unemployed or underemployed.

Diemasters, a division of Weiss-Aug Group, is located in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, has been committed to the quality craftsmanship of high-precision products since 1948. Specializing in metal stamping, fabrication, assembly, and product design support, the company’s customer base spans across the globe and includes some of the most recognized brands serving a broad variety of markets.
Job Highlights
Learn precision metal stamping processes and die set-up techniques
Train on manual machines including saws, mills, drill presses, grinders, and lathes
Study root causes of part or tool malfunctions
Work full time alongside experienced die makers
Attend evening classes for 3 years through the Technology and Manufacturing Association (TMA)
Candidate Profile
Familiar with power tools and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
Mechanically inclined with strong attention to detail and curiosity
Hands-on experience with engines, robotics, or home/auto repairs
Maintenance experience beyond custodial tasks; manufacturing coursework preferred
Solid math and reading skills; hands-on skills will be assessed before hiring
Additional Information
This role is part of our Manufacturing Apprenticeship Accelerator program in partnership with Cook County. Along with on the job training, candidates will be eligible for 100% paid schooling after 60 days of employment
The Diemasters provides an assigned mentor and shadowing opportunities in the first few weeks
