Our client, a secure commercial printing facility, is looking for an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to design, maintain, and improve electrical control systems that support plant automation and operations.

This role focuses on maximizing system reliability, safety, and efficiency across power distribution, PLCs, motor controls, and instrumentation.

Location: Browns Summit, NC (100% onsite) Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000/year Key Responsibilities:Design and develop automation systems using PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred) and HMIs.Create and update electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical.Implement motor control systems, including VFDs, soft starters, and relays.Diagnose and resolve electrical control system issues.Support maintenance teams with system troubleshooting and functionality.Perform routine system checks and preventive maintenance.Calibrate and maintain instrumentation like sensors and actuators.Identify and implement automation improvements.Monitor power usage and recommend cost-saving measures.Analyze system data to support continuous improvement.Ensure all systems comply with NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and other safety standards.Maintain arc flash documentation and safety procedures.Train team members on safe and effective control system use.Support or lead projects involving system upgrades and new installations.Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and external vendors.

Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field2–5 years of experience with plant automation and electrical control systemsProficiency in Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIsExperience with motor controls, VFDs, and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)Familiarity with 480V 3-phase power systems and industrial instrumentationSkilled in AutoCAD Electrical or similar softwareStrong troubleshooting, teamwork, and communication skillsKnowledge of safety regulations and control system best practices
