Automation Controls Engineer Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Automation Controls Engineer to support the design, implementation, and optimization of automated systems within a regulated medical device manufacturing environment.

This role focuses on equipment integration, control system development, and process automation to ensure high performance, compliance, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for manufacturing and packaging equipmentLead automation projects from concept through implementation, validation, and supportCollaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Manufacturing, R&D, and MaintenanceSupport equipment upgrades, retrofits, and integration of new technologiesAuthor and review technical documentation including functional specifications, test protocols (IQ/OQ), and change controlsEnsure systems comply with FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, and GMP requirementsConduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for equipment or control system failuresManage vendors and external integrators as needed for system deployment and commissioning Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field5–7 years of experience in automation/controls engineering, preferably in the medical device or life sciences industryStrong hands-on experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell preferred), HMIs, and SCADA systemsWorking knowledge of automation communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC)Experience with equipment validation and documentation in a regulated environmentUnderstanding of GAMP 5, risk management, and change control processesExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in teams
