As part of a team of engineers, the Drupal developer at VML will find themselves as an essential contributor to the construction of client projects that they find themselves on.

Our Drupal developers need to be more than just a programmer, we are looking for problem solvers and technical enthusiasts.

Someone that is up to facing the highest challenges by creatively finding solutions, adapting to unforeseen requirements, learning new technology and sometimes just plowing through.

Duties for our developers include producing code that adheres to established development protocols and bests practices as defined by our technology department.

They are also expected to participate in a team environment to determine scopes, estimate tasks and promote solutions.

Other key duties include evaluating emerging technologies, performing proof of concepts, documenting recommendations and contributing to our constantly evolving best practices.

It is also expected that as a self-starter, our developers will be able to balance priorities across all aspects of the system development life cycle, which will encompass both support of legacy products as well as new green field development.

ResponsibilitiesCollaborating with management, departments and customers to identify end-user requirements and specificationsDesigning algorithms and workflows to create new software applications and backend systemsProducing efficient and elegant code based on requirementsTesting and deploying programs and applicationsTroubleshooting, debugging, maintaining and improving existing softwareCompiling and assessing user feedback to improve application performanceObserving user feedback to recommend improvements to existing solutionsDeveloping technical documentation to guide future development projectsParticipates in Code ReviewsParticipates in Agile ceremonies as an active contributor.

Requirements4+ years of in-depth experience utilizing object-oriented programmingProven experience as an Application DeveloperFamiliarity with architectural styles and design patternsExcellent troubleshooting and communication skillsComprehensive understanding of Agile methodologiesEffectively work on multiple tasks against shifting prioritiesRapidly absorbs complex technical and/or conceptual informationAnticipate issues and provide solutions for complex problemsPossess superior analytical and problem-solving skills CompetenciesAt least 4 years prior experience as a PHP developer with proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScriptExperience with Drupal, including experience with application framework (e.g.

Laravel, Symfony) a plus.Experience with Drupal's open-source ecosystem of modules.Familiarity with implementing and deploying solutions via CI/CD pipeline toolsFamiliar with using git within a team structureA good understanding of best practices related to website builds (e.g.

SEO, accessibility, performance)An understanding of secure code that conforms to Drupal's PHP and JavaScript style guide.Other experience that distinguishes candidates includes:Experience with an application framework such as Laravel or Symfony.Experience with frontend JavaScript frameworks such as Vue or ReactExperience designing and developing REST APIsAcquia Developer Certifications The hourly compensation for this position at the time of this posting may range from $60 per hour to $85 per hour.
