Air Force Test Pilot School in developing and delivering the Mission Systems portion of the curriculum.
This in-residence course, conducted twice annually at Edwards AFB, provides advanced education to future flight and space test professionals.
Topics include weapons systems, electro-optics, radar, electronic warfare, communications systems, and other components of modern aircraft and space vehicles.
Instructors should have DoD Test and Evaluation experience, with a preference for flight test or space system test backgrounds.
The position requires on-site work at Edwards AFB, coordinating, developing, and delivering both classroom instruction and hands-on exercises aligned with course objectives.
Specialized knowledge in test planning, execution, and reporting is required, along with expertise in one or more disciplines such as radar, electro-optics, communications, weapons integration, software development and test, or cybersecurity.
Experience with space systems is highly desired.
Essential Functions: Serve as a trusted advisor to the Mission Systems Technical Expert and act in their stead during absencesProvide subject matter expertise to develop and deliver engaging classroom, lab, and field instruction in areas including radar, optical sensors, communications, electronic warfare, weapons systems, and cyber operationsCollaborate with the curriculum team to maintain and update content in alignment with evolving aerospace and defense technologiesCoordinate with customer stakeholders to ensure all logistical and administrative needs for each course iteration are metDevelop and administer student evaluations to assess progress, support learning outcomes, and provide constructive feedbackPerform additional duties as required Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in engineering or a related scientific field, with at least 8 years of experience in test and evaluation (a bachelor’s degree with additional experience may be considered)Strong working knowledge of DoD Test and Evaluation processes within major acquisition programsDemonstrated experience in developing and applying test methodologiesPrior instructional experienceExpertise in Mission Systems, preferably within both space and flight environmentsExperience supporting test efforts for space or air systems in roles such as engineer, analyst, or operatorExcellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable briefing at all organizational levels Desired Qualifications: Graduate of a recognized Test Pilot School (USAF, USN, Empire, or EPNER)Space-related testing or operational experienceExperience providing formal instruction in academic or training environmentsProficiency with Microsoft Office and collaborative tools such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams
