Responsibilities:
Designs and tests new integrated circuits and hardware components for a wide variety of signal processing applications and research. Designs, documents, and develops code (to include firmware) for digital signal processors or other programmable hardware devices such as Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) hardware. Analyzes the function of existing integrated circuits and hardware components for the purpose of reverse engineering the hardware and firmware. Conducts the necessary hardware engineering and related functions to modify and adapt vendor-manufactured hardware to meet special Government needs and contingencies.
Candidate should have a basic understanding of VSAT design and field integration, be able to conduct remote site surveys, and perform RF interference detection/migration practices while working closely with customer and site personnel to maintain current hardware and provide refresh/new deployment support.

RF Test, Management, Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE)
Systematic troubleshooting processes
Read and understand wiring diagrams
Read and understand Technical Manuals
Fiber optical installation, troubleshooting, and repair
RF Communications Systems (Antenna Apertures, Antenna Servo Systems, RF Feed Assembly, Low noise Amplifiers, Frequency converters, Antenna control units)
