Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Engineer to join our team in the food manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing multiple capital projects, a strong understanding of CAPEX portfolio management, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. This role involves overseeing projects with a total capital expenditure (CAPEX) portfolio of $5-10 million, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management
Lead the planning, execution, and completion of multiple capital projects, ranging from facility upgrades to new equipment installations.
Develop and manage project scopes, timelines, budgets, and risk assessments.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, maintenance, and quality assurance to ensure project alignment with company goals.
Monitor project performance using KPIs and adjust plans as needed to achieve objectives. CAPEX Portfolio Management
Oversee and manage a CAPEX portfolio of $5-10 million, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and business needs.
Prepare detailed cost estimates, financial analyses, and ROI calculations for proposed projects.
Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards in all CAPEX projects.
Regularly report on project and portfolio status to stakeholders, including senior leadership. Technical Expertise
Provide technical input for the design, specification, and procurement of equipment and systems.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Troubleshoot and resolve engineering challenges during project execution. Vendor and Contractor Management
Source and evaluate vendors, contractors, and suppliers for project execution.
Negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, and ensure adherence to agreed-upon terms.
Supervise contractor activities on-site to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with project specifications. Safety and Compliance
Champion a culture of safety by ensuring all projects adhere to OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.
Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments for ongoing projects.
Maintain compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards throughout project execution. Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related field).
5-7 years of experience in project engineering, preferably in the food manufacturing or related process industries.
Proven experience managing capital projects with budgets between $5-10 million. Technical Skills
Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD, SAP, etc.).
Strong understanding of food manufacturing processes, equipment, and regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus. Soft Skills
