Job Title: Automation Control Engineer

Schedule: Four 10-hour days with a half-day on Fridays

Location: Minneapolis area

Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Automation Engineer with a strong background in designing and programming control systems for automated manufacturing equipment for a client in the Minneapolis area.

The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant experience and a proven ability to manage projects from concept to installation. An associate degree in a related field is desired. This position requires a willingness to travel an average of 25%, primarily within the U.S., with the potential for future international travel.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design and programming of automated equipment.

Design and program safety circuits using safety PLCs, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Conduct risk assessments and implement necessary safety devices to ensure safe operations.

Develop control systems following UL 508 certification standards.

Specify components and document control systems for various types of automated equipment.

Perform electrical and pneumatic design, PLC programming, machine debugging, and ensure systems are certified for customer run-off.

Oversee the installation and startup of equipment at customer sites, providing hands-on support for seamless operations. Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and programming control systems for automated manufacturing equipment.

Expertise in PLC, HMI, robotics, motion control, pneumatics, and hydraulics.

Proficiency in AutoCAD for design purposes.

Strong experience with Allen Bradley software including: Studio 5000, RS 500, FactoryTalk View, and other related Allen Bradley tools

Familiarity with UL 508 standards and ability to design certified systems.

Experience in safety circuit design and risk assessment for automated systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate degree in a related field of study.

Experience in industrial robotics programming and integration.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
