Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking a Financial Analyst for a long-term contract position in Durham, NC.

As a Financial Analyst, you would provide essential financial, contract, and procurement support to a division of the local government in Durham. Under the guidance of the Financial Services Manager, you would assist in managing the operational budget, entering and maintaining contracts, tracking departmental expenditures, and supporting purchasing functions. This position also manages user equipment orders and helps assign system access to team members.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours/week) position with compensation of $30.00-$32.00/hour, depending upon qualifications. It is a contract position, with a length of 12 months and the option to extend or convert into a permanent position. It requires a Hybrid schedule, reporting 1 day per week (Mondays) to an office in Durham.

Responsibilities Include:

Support the day-to-day administration of the department’s operational budget, including assisting with processing payments through requisition creation, managing contract payment schedules, and ensuring timely and accurate submission of financial documentation.

Coordinate purchasing for training, travel, office supplies, and employee reimbursements.

Manage and track contracts through entry, renewals, and vendor communications.

Initiate and track equipment orders, maintain equipment inventory, and coordinate deliveries.

Assign and maintain user account access to department systems and platforms.

Assist with the preparation of budget amendments, journal entries, and vendor payments.

Maintain documentation for contract compliance and financial reporting requirements.

Collaborate with IT staff and vendors to ensure timely processing of purchases and services.

Desired Qualifications:

2–4 years of administrative, financial, or procurement experience in a government or IT setting.

Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field.

Familiarity with public sector procurement or finance policies.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and Outlook).

Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Munis, Oracle, SAP).

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and internal departments.
