As an operator, you will be responsible for the overall inspection and maintenance of central production treatment/storage/compression facilities, water injection pumps, related equipment, and various utility support systems including chemical injection equipment. Your work will be self-directed based on the demands of your specialization, assigned routes and geographic responsibilities. This position requires the ability to drive and work alone as you travel across your assigned geographic region. You will perform operating functions and troubleshooting on all equipment, basic maintenance on pads and lease roads, while testing, monitoring and optimizing production rates from oil and gas wells. As an Operator, you may have specialization and responsibilities in production, automation/control center, or HSER. It is important that you have a working knowledge of each of these areas as it applies to your area of expertise.
Responsibilities:
Ensure company safety and environmental policies and procedures are known and followed by yourself and contractors.
Identifies deficiencies and recommends corrections to existing procedures to ensure the assigned field meets performance and HSER standards.
Maintains the production rate throughout the system.
Performs daily operational checks of assigned wells and production facilities as it pertains to safe and efficient production.
Ensures that safety devices are operational.
Tests wells to determine production rates and problems.
Monitors equipment repairs.
Takes proactive steps to maximize production and minimize spills and leaks.
Performs housekeeping and basic maintenance of well site duties.
Operates and maintains central production treatment/storage/compression facilities.
Train, delegate and review the work of lower level employees.
Respectfully interact with landowners and engage Foreman and/or Landman when escalation is required.
Responds to facility or well level alarm events in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, required.
Related oil and gas production experience is a plus for entry-level positions.
General knowledge of well operations, including general maintenance practices.
An active driver’s license and safe driving record is required for this position.
Ability to operate independently and manage time.
Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
Familiarity and ability to enter, monitor and evaluate data within with operations management systems (Production: Cygnet, SCADA systems, Open Wells, Merrick/Evin).
Physical Demands:
Regularly works around chemical and mechanical systems and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times.
Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to lift and move equipment and/or pipes, provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina.
Frequently operates a computer, hand and power tools, and other equipment and lawn machinery as required.
Occasionally ascends/ descends a ladder and/or stairs to install, inspect, storage tanks and other equipment.
*More senior levels are expected to serve as working leaders responsible for the training and reviewing the work of lower level operators. These levels require a proven level of technical and leadership expertise through behaviors and performance. Only highest performing operators will be considered for more senior level positions.
