JOB SUMMARY
Dialysis Technician performs dialysis procedures and treatments by assessing, planning, evaluating, and implementing tasks under the supervision of an RN. Performs highly technical procedures and tasks on dialysis equipment. Follows facility policy and procedures. Promotes teamwork inter-and intra-departmentally and maintains positive communication skills. Meets standards and functions under the supervision of a dialysis RN. Dialysis Techs have a professional obligation to participate in committee activities, surveys, improvement initiatives, and continuing education.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Work Experience
Minimum of 6 months as a dialysis technicians within the past 16 months
Required Licenses/Certifications
CPR-BCLS
Must obtain certification as a dialysis technician within 18 months of initial start date in the dialysis setting
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Input data into computer programs
Provide safe and effective care to (up to) four patients per shift
Maintains a professional appearance and attitude at all times
Takes direction from the charge nurse and clinic manager
Documents on daily and weekly logs
Follows facility policy and procedures
Communicates with other team members and patients
Ability to work with technical equipment
Ability to handle confidential information
