Network Administrator

These roles are integral to the daily operations and security of the department’s IT infrastructure, including firewalls, servers, networks, applications, and user support systems.

Each specialist will focus on a combination of the areas below, working collaboratively to maintain uptime, enhance system efficiency, and support critical transportation technologies.

Key Responsibilities: Firewall Administration

Configure and manage Fortinet firewalls, including policy and role updates.

Conduct periodic audits and troubleshoot security access issues.

Web Filter Administration

Manage FortiGate filtering systems: weekly audits, permission controls, software updates, and monitoring.

Server Administration

Oversee VMware environment, Veeam backup/recovery operations, and Dell Compellent/Powerstore storage.

Perform patch management, role configuration, and system provisioning.

Security Administration

Administer RADIUS, Active Directory, and user authentication protocols.

Manage background clearance workflows and security access via Atlassian Jira.

Maintain user access for ITS/TSMO operations.

Network and Workstation Support

Perform routine diagnostics, maintenance, and monitoring across server and workstation infrastructure.

Support Windows-based systems, software deployment, and user issue resolution.

Special Programs Administration Support and maintain multiple transportation and infrastructure software systems:

Activu – Video wall display and control system.

Road Ranger App – Mobile tool for incident and service dispatch.

iVDS – Remote camera viewing and integration.

SunGuide – Advanced traveler information and roadway event management.

BlueMAC – Bluetooth-based traffic data collection.

MIMS – Maintenance Inventory Management and dispatch platform.

ITS Facility Management – Field device tracking and site management.

SCCM/SCOM – Microsoft systems management and monitoring.

SolarWinds – Infrastructure and network monitoring tools.

Manage any new third-party or proprietary applications introduced during contract term.

Qualifications:

Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.

3+ years of experience in IT systems administration, networking, or similar.

Experience with Fortinet firewalls, VMware, Dell storage, Active Directory, and Atlassian tools.

Familiarity with traffic operations or public sector IT environments is a plus.

Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to manage multiple systems and priorities

Excellent communication and documentation skills
