Network Engineer

Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking a Network Engineer for a one-year contract assignment with a public institution in Durham, NC.

The goal of this position is to assist with the upgrade of LAN infrastructure and the deployment of a fiber network. You will coordinate with an outside vendor, meeting them at a variety of locations around Durham, giving them access to network equipment, documenting the details, and performing some hands-on switch replacement.

This is an hourly contract position, with a pay rate of $36.00-$40.00/hour, depending upon qualifications. Work is contained to Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but needs will vary week-to-week, with a minimum of 20 hours per week and a maximum of 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities Include:

Regularly meet with vendors on-site at network locations around Durham.

Document installs, replacements, and other changes in NetBox.

Document technical details, like rack elevation.

Replace existing LAN infrastructure by pulling old switches and putting in new switches.

Install wireless access points intermittently.

Desired Qualifications:

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

Fortinet switch experience is a plus.
