Summary
The Cloud Data Operations Specialist will provide operational data support of the SDS AWS cloud platform by maintaining the Data Lake (S3) and Data Warehouse (Redshift) data models, supporting existing and creating new ETL jobs in AWS Glue, resolving AWS job failures, and following the CI/CD process for data and reporting enhancements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and Implementation: Identify data and reporting needs and create an action plan. Interface with internal customers to gather requirements. Design new data model artifacts using ERwin, forward-engineer the DDL to Redshift, and develop new ETL jobs using AWS Glue.
Test and Deploy: Verify new AWS artifacts in the Dev/Test environment against expected results and migrate to Production using Terraform scripts.
Data Operations: Assist with various operational tasks, including break/fix, AWS Glue configurations, job monitoring, and updating documentation.
Collaboration: Work with other teams to ensure project task understanding and resolve blockers or related issues that could cause delays.
Provide expert-level technical support for mission-critical systems and applications while ensuring the security, stability, reliability, and scalability of the SDS cloud infrastructure.
Play a key role in incident management, root cause analysis, automation, and continuous improvement, leveraging AWS best practices to drive operational excellence.
Raise AWS incident tickets and work with the Infrastructure team when AWS networking issues arise.
Skills and Qualifications
Experience with AWS cloud tools: Database Migration Service, S3, AWS Glue, Redshift, and Athena.
Practitioner-level knowledge of VPN, Public and Private subnets, Virtual Private and Internet Gateways, IAM, Secrets Manager
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science or IT field is highly preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered.
AWS Certification is not required but is a big plus (Cloud Practitioner, Associate, or Professional level).
