Jr. Data Scientist / AI Engineer

Columbus, OH - Onsite

Contract-to-hire

Brooksource is looking for an entry-level Data Scientist to join our Public Sector client in July 2025. As an Entry-Level Data Scientist, you’ll be joining a dynamic analytics team engaged in cutting-edge AI initiatives. You’ll support active projects to build AI-driven solutions like policy chatbots and machine learning models, working within platforms such as Snowflake. This role provides hands-on opportunities in Python, SQL, and Tableau while building valuable experience in cross-functional communication, business analysis, and agile development workflows.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics or related field

Proficiency in Python for programming, data analysis, and modeling

Experience with SQL for querying databases

Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)

Understanding of basic machine learning concepts and statistical methods

Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

Strong business and technology aptitude with a willingness to learn both business and software solutions

Ability to build strong partnerships to work collaboratively with all business and IT areas.

Knowledge of AI/Machine Learning concepts through coursework, capstones, or internships

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop technical solutions based upon user specifications and technology frameworks

Build machine learning models to uncover patterns and generate predictions

Work with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions

Support AI development tasks such as building or modifying chatbot solutions and data workflows using Python and SQL

Contribute to ongoing AI focused projects - including fraud detection, claims policy chatbots, and HR reporting tools

Use GitHub and Kanban boards to track tasks and contribute to the full development cycle—expectations, development, testing, and production
