Job Title: Senior Oracle Database Administrator

Location: Columbus, OH - Remote/Hybrid – May require a few days a week onsite

Type: Contract 12+ Months

Job Description:

An experienced Oracle Database Administrator is needed to support complex systems using Oracle RAC architecture on UNIX platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for database design, solution delivery, and production support in a high-paced environment. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and collaboration to promote innovation and ensure well-managed database systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage Oracle databases on UNIX platforms with a focus on reliability, performance, and availability.

Ensure best practices in database planning, design, configuration, performance tuning, and capacity planning.

Provide DBA support for distributed servers in a multi-datacenter environment.

Monitor daily performance of complex applications; troubleshoot and implement approved solutions.

Support application development teams by providing guidance on database design and programming.

Develop technical documentation and project plans; interact with stakeholders for solution discussions.

Provide support for deploying code in both non-production and production environments.

Troubleshoot and resolve database/application-related issues.

Support DevOps tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Nexus, Maven, Bitbucket, Kony Mobile, Nginx.

Handle technical Tier III support and lead design, implementation, and maintenance meetings.

Plan and configure hardware for cluster nodes, interconnects, and cluster-aware storage.

Install and configure cluster and DBMS software on all nodes.

Monitor load balancing and tune RAC parameters for high performance.

Configure and implement log shipping, standby servers, and replication.

Provide leadership for database automation and innovation.

Drive strategic planning for database architecture, growth, and resource management.

Identify design inefficiencies and implement optimized solutions.

Ensure effective risk management and compliance with security protocols, access controls, and technical standards.

Lead incident resolution efforts and engage with teams to complete corrective actions quickly.

Research and recommend database tools, standards, and technologies.

Work with virtualized infrastructure across Unix, Linux, and AIX systems.

Update database security protocols regularly; apply patches and maintain configurations.

Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members.

Collaborate with project management to ensure clear client communication during deployments and upgrades.

Required Skills:

PL/SQL, Transparent Data Encryption, and Database Partitioning – Required

Shell scripting and Oracle Data Guard experience – Required

Oracle RAC experience in UNIX environments – Highly Desired
