This job entails loading/unloading material or otherwise move inventory through use of overhead crane or other material handling equipment as specified according to work orders and by directive of supervisor. The starting rate for this position is $22.00. A shift differential of $1.50/hour is paid to employees while working on 2nd or 3rd shift.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for operating an overhead crane to lift, move, position, reposition steel material to stock areas.
Load and unload trailers, railroad cars and/or barges.
Log and report inventory location changes according to specified procedure into inventory computer system and/or by paperwork.
Log and tag inventory received according to specified procedure
Assemble customer orders according to work orders
Record pertinent material information to work orders, material, or other forms as specified by management
Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy.
Works and coordinates with multiple areas of warehouse, and coworkers to complete tasks.
Maintain compliance with all safety requirements, policies, and procedures.
Safety sensitive for his/her owns safety and/or of others safety.
Demonstrated initiative to proactively seek out work and complete tasks
Enthusiastic team player with a motivating positive attitude
Committed to a workplace of culture and respect.
Dependable and consistent attendance/punctuality
May need to work overtime and weekends as assigned (depending on business need).
Performance of other Warehouse or other tasks as required by the absence of a department member or due to the existence of a backlog of work.
Special projects as specified by management.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read and write.
Comprehensive understanding of basic math functions.
Candidates with crane experience, material handling experience, and experience in an industrial setting is a plus but not required. Candidates with no experience are welcome to apply, as we offer On the Job Training.
A valid driver's license is required.
