Position\: MS SQL Migration Developer
Location: Smithfield, RI (HYBRID Onsite unable to consider remote options requests)
Job Summary:
Virtusa is seeking a seasoned MS SQL Migration Developer with strong experience in migrating legacy and third-party database systems to Microsoft SQL Server. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in assessing current infrastructures, executing smooth and efficient migrations, and ensuring data accuracy, performance, and integrity throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze existing data systems and develop detailed migration plans to MS SQL Server.
Design and execute migration strategies from platforms like Oracle, MySQL, Access, or legacy systems to MS SQL Server.
Develop and optimize T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, and ETL workflows using SSIS.
Refactor legacy SQL code for enhanced performance and scalability.
Collaborate with DBAs, developers, and business analysts to ensure seamless data transitions.
Perform data mapping, cleansing, transformation, and post-migration validation.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues during and post-migration.
Maintain detailed documentation of processes, configurations, and outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
8+ years of experience in MS SQL Server development and data migration.
Deep expertise in T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, views, and database design.
Strong hands-on experience with ETL tools, particularly SSIS.
Proven track record in successful end-to-end data migrations.
Experience migrating from platforms such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Access, or flat files.
Solid understanding of data migration best practices, including rollback planning and minimizing downtime.
Excellent troubleshooting and performance-tuning skills.
