The main objective of the Medical Record Technician (Release of Information) role is to deliver exceptional customer service by supporting patients, their families, caregivers, external auditors, community physicians, outside organizations, and hospital staff. This position ensures that health information is provided accurately, promptly, and completely in response to requests made via phone, fax, email, written correspondence, or in person. It also involves responding to inquiries about medical records in compliance with hospital and departmental guidelines, as well as HIPAA regulations.
Responsibilities:
What You’ll Do
Provide outstanding customer service as a Medical Record Technician (Release of Information).
Assist a wide range of individuals including patients, families, caregivers, external auditors, community physicians, outside agencies, and hospital staff.
Ensure the accurate, timely, and complete release of health information.
Respond to requests for medical records via phone, fax, email, written correspondence, or in-person visits.
Handle inquiries in accordance with hospital and departmental policies.
Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and privacy standards
Qualifications:
What You’ll Bring
Required:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in medical records-related work.
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Ability to analyze medical records and interpret physicians’ handwriting.
Proficient in data entry, typing, and using email applications.
Must be fluent in speaking and reading English.
Strong oral and written communication skills required.
Detail-oriented, accurate, and highly organized.
Demonstrates professionalism, tact, and diplomacy in all interactions.
Skilled in using various hardware and software applications.

The expected hourly range for this position is TC1700: $23.06 - $24.27per hour, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
