SITE: Transportation Services

SALARY: Range 24M ($96,434.28 - $117,465.66/yr)

Under the direction of the Director, Transportation Services, organize, plan, direct and implement operations and activities involved in student transportation; communicate with District personnel, parents and students; supervise, assign, direct, review and evaluate work of assigned employees, i.e., school bus drivers, dispatchers, school bus aides, school bus driver instructor and delegated behind-the-wheel trainers.

Minimum Qualifications Required to Apply

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and four years experience in transportation activities including at least one year in a supervisory capacity.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Valid California Commercial Driver's License Class B-P; a valid medical examiner's certificate; a valid California special driver certificate without restrictions; a valid First Aid Certificate issued by the American Red Cross or other agency approved by the California Highway Patrol, if applicable.

Essential Duties

Plan, organize, coordinate and schedule the activities of pupil transportation to and from school, athletic events, and educational field trips; plan bus routes and schedules. E

Communicate with parents, students and bus drivers to receive and resolve issues, concerns and complaints concerning student transportation services; resolve student discipline concerns during scheduled conferences. E

Investigate school bus accidents; evaluate accidents and bus stop incidents, prepare related reports and submit to appropriate personnel for additional training needs or action. E

Observe drivers and assure compliance with student transportation rules, regulations and District policies. E

Prepare and maintain required reports related to the transportation department such as payroll, student conduct, student count sheets and bus driver DMV records. E

Oversee dispatch activities and monitor the efficient use of District buses and vehicles. E

Assist in selecting, interviewing and orientation of bus drivers; train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel. E

Assist bus drivers with concerns or questions regarding student discipline as necessary.

Communicate with various law enforcement agencies such as the California Highway Patrol and local police department officials to exchange information regarding bus accident reports and current laws and regulations of student transportation.

Assist with bus driver training as necessary.

Supervise accident review committee.

Schedule field trip transportation; assign drivers, provide maps, written instructions, route and other related information.

Attend IEP meetings for special needs pupils.

Operate a computer and other office equipment; operate a two-way radio and school buses of varying size.

Perform related duties as assigned.
