Position Title: Professional Learning Specialist (PLS) – ELA

Provide implementation guidance, professional learning, and coordination for the assigned K-12 content area programs in order to provide each student enrolled in the district with high quality instruction in the areas of focus.
Essential Duties:
Contribute to the development, articulation, evaluation, revision, and implementation of the K-12curriculum as appropriate, in collaboration with other central office personnel.
Provide guidance and support to building administration and teacher leaders in matters pertaining to associated educational programs, including instructional and planning observation, cycles of feedback, and guidance for next steps.
Implement assigned and designated projects with cross-departmental and cross-divisional program support staff and administrators.
Assist with the collection and analysis of data to improve assigned programs and academic achievement, to include qualitative observational data, standardized tests, and district assessments.
Support improvement of student achievement results at local schools through professional development and the deployment of appropriate resources (i.e., material, technological, and human resources).
Coordinate, under direction of the assigned coordinator, assigned district-wide events.
Ensure Board policies related to the content instructional program are reflective of current practices and expectations.
Effectively articulate curricular and instructional goals, program, initiatives, and results to internal and external groups including teachers, administrators, community members, and the educational community.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator Certificate in relevant area of assignment or meet the district's professional qualifications. Georgia Leadership Certificate, preferred.
Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience in relevant area of assignment.
Recent participation at relevant district, state, and other professional development opportunities focusing on research-based instructional techniques and lesson planning.
Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
Must abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.
Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
