The Susan B. Anthony Middle School is seeking a passionate Special Education Teacher for the CAPTURE program. The CAPTURE program provides tailored support in the areas of reading, writing, math and executive functioning to students with diverse learning needs in a resource room setting along with opportunities to support students in the inclusion setting. Students in this program receive all core instruction in general education/ inclusion classrooms while receiving extra support in the CAPTURE program.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following. Additions and modifications to these representative duties and responsibilities are under the purview of the Superintendent of Schools.
Prepare and deliver lesson plans with the ability to modify accordingly during the school year
Work directly with all school staff members
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development
Facilitate Team meetings, IEP progress monitoring and reporting and other Special Education required regulations
Utilize research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction
Manage student behavior in the classroom
Create a positive classroom environment to support learning for all students
Utilize school approved curricula that reflects the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students
Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms
Communicate and meet with caregivers regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their child
Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning
Participate in the planning and implementation of non-instructional activities, as needed
Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues
Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent
Qualifications:
MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education licensure in Moderate Disabilities Grade PreK-8 and SEI endorsement required. Preferred candidates will also hold a certification in Reading Specialist All Grades and/or have experience teaching reading to middle school students.
Excellent computer/technology skills with the ability to utilize various computer software and app programs.
