Must meet district Teacher Assistant (TA) requirements
High school diploma or equivalent;
Highly Qualified status as required by No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities Act—Associate’s Degree or have scored at least a 4 in math or reading, and a 3 or better in writing on the WorkKeys test or ETS Parapro Assessment with a passing score of 460.
Consistent and punctual attendance
Ability to be flexible with varying student needs and schedule changes
Provide support to students within general education and resource room locations
Experience working with students with Autism and/or Emotional Impairment preferred
Ability to monitor and manage student behavior
Ability to follow, implement and document all aspects of Positive Behavior Intervention Plan
Ability to provide sensory integration as needed
Ability to work with children in a caring, nurturing manner
Effective communication skills with a variety of staff and students
Demonstrates flexibility, teamwork and organization
Hard working and team player
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Demonstrated physical ability to lift and transfer students
Technology literate
Ability and willingness to perform recess monitoring, bus loading/unloading and lunchroom supervision, as necessary
Perform all other duties assigned by the classroom teachers, Principal and/or Director of Special Education
CPI and/or Ukeru trained preferred
