Purpose:
The purpose of an instructional coach is to assist long-term substitute teachers (Interims) in the implementation of effective, research-based instructional strategies so that gains in student achievement are realized. The Interim Instructional Coach will also guide candidates through a transition to teach process and provide overall support.
Up to 5,000 sign-on bonus
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education and valid Kansas teaching license
Success as a classroom teacher
Knowledge of content standards, effective instructional practices, and assessments
Experience with professional development and working with groups of educators
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Assistant Superintendent of Academics
Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver bootcamp (with the assistance of building ICs).
Teach instructional strategies
If interim misses boot camp, provide that training one-on-one or in small group. Relationship building with each interim
Discuss and explain the salary schedule and placement
Collection and evaluation of transcripts (secondary) in order to recommend college path
Research and discussion of available college programs fitting with their education and goals. Serve as liaison between interim and college
Explain the tuition assistance program
Collect signed tuition agreements
Collect tuition invoices and submit them to the finance department
Collect college program Plan of Study and track progress towards certification
Arrange Student Teaching / Transfer to Advanced Student Teacher.
Attend Mentor meetings
Provide information on Praxis tests, aid with study resources
Provide assistance with content-specific resources
Observe interims in the classroom
Arrange opportunities for interims to observe experienced teachers
Send/leave notes of encouragement
Meet with interims during the planning period to develop plans of improvement. Establish goals for improvement and track progress
Collaborate with IC at the building level
Meet with interims for reflection after each quarter
Meet with interims at year-end to discuss commitment for next year
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting or standing, physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, and reaching
Evaluation
The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the negotiated agreement
