Ashland, ME – FT/Night – Temp-to-Hire Opportunity

Job Description:

Immediate opening for an Equipment Operator to work for a well-established lumber mill in Ashland. Competitive pay; excellent benefits package available after temp-to-hire period. Full-time/Nights; 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM, 4 days per week, Monday – Friday. Some overtime available as needed. $21.93/hr. + $2.00/hr. night shift differential. Attendance bonuses available.

The Equipment Operator will be responsible for efficiently loading and unloading logs, lumber, and other materials, while ensuring the yard and production areas remain organized and safe. Great opportunity for someone who enjoys operating heavy equipment and working in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

Responsibilities:

Operate loaders and related equipment to move logs, lumber, and wood waste.

Load and unload trucks and feed material into processing equipment.

Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance (e.g., checking fluids, greasing).

Communicate with yard supervisors and production teams to ensure that daily operations are carried out in an efficient and timely manner.

Ensure that the lumber yard and storage areas are well-organized and safe to access.

Closely follow all safety protocols and company procedures as directed.

Job Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent education.

Minimum of two years’ professional experience operating front-end loaders or similar heavy equipment.

Strong attention to safety and situational awareness.

Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions

Ability to work in outdoor conditions and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.

Schedule: Full-time/Nights; 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM, 4 days per week, Monday – Friday.

Pay: $21.93/hr. + $2.00/hr. night shift differential. Overtime and attendance bonuses available.
