Forklift Operator - 1st Shift
Hours: Monday-Friday from 7:00am-4:30pm
Overview: The forklift driver is responsible for the supply and removal of materials to the machinery or department. In addition, they are responsible for staging and ensuring material or product is stored correctly.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensure all machines are supplied with lumber, to help eliminate downtime
Ensure finished goods are staged or stored after completion in order to maintain efficient material flow
Coordinate finished goods storage with department lead
Pre-stage materials in the department for easy access and minimal travel time
Monitor quality of products generated in the department, if the product does not meet quality standards, notify the lead or supervisor
Operate forklift at, or under, posted speed limits at all times and in a safe manner
Wear safety glasses and gloves whenever operating a forklift or changing out LP tanks
Maintain clear aisle ways for all exits and fire extinguishers
Follow proper housekeeping procedures inside and outside the plant. (i.e. spilled lumber or loose banding.)
Perform daily pre-inspection on forklift before use
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High school diploma required
Prior Forklift Operation in manufacturing setting required
Able to work well with others
Must be able to read and write
Must be able to perform basic mathematical computations
On most occasions will lift 50 pounds or less and on a rare occasion must be able to lift, push and pull objects that are 75 pounds or heavier
Must be able to get on and off lift at least a few times an hour
Must be able to sit, walk, bend and twist for long periods of time throughout the day
Must be able to read a tape measure
Must be able to understand and adhere to all the safety requirements of the pallet manufacturing facility
