Job Title: Controls Technician/Engineer (On Site Installer)

Location: Portland, OR and surrounding area

Job Type: Independent Contractor (1099)

Responsibilities:

Install, calibrate, troubleshoot and commission building automation systems (BAS), Fertigation, Environmental and various stand alone controllers.

Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with control systems, including hardware, software, and network components.

Read and interpret graphical data, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.

Program and configure control system software and PLC, GUI and various stand alone systems.

Integrate various building systems, such as HVAC, lighting, access control, and fire alarm systems, into the central control platform.

Provide technical support and training to clients on the operation of their control systems.

Document all work performed, including system configurations, wiring details, and troubleshooting steps.

Collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, and other team members.

Adhere to all safety standards and company procedures.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Technical, Hands-on Experience or an equivalent Associate's degree in a related field (e.g., Electrical Engineering Technology, HVAC Technology, Automation Technology).

2+ years of experience working with building automation and control systems.

Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical principles, and control theory.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Strong computer skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Willingness and thirst to learn new skills, products and systems.

Experience with Windows operating system.

Knowledge of IT networking concepts.

Experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC or related.

Familiarity with communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus.

Benefits

Starting rate based on experience and exposure.

$35-$65/hr. Drive time compensation after 30min.

Negotiable.
