Job Summary:
WBDC is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of our financial reporting, managing accounting functions, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of GAAP, strong analytical skills, and the ability to oversee complex financial processes with minimal supervision. This is a hands-on role that also includes mentoring junior staff and helping to continuously improve financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Operations & Oversight
Oversee and maintain accurate general ledger accounts
Review and prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
Manage month-end and year-end close processes
Financial Reporting
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
Provide insights to leadership through customized financial reports
Budgeting & Forecasting
Support annual budgeting process and regular financial forecasting
Analyze budget-to-actual results and explain variances
Collaborate with department leads to align forecasts with organizational goals
Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight
Supervise AP/AR functions and ensure accuracy and timeliness
Monitor outstanding receivables and aging reports
Reconcile vendor and customer accounts regularly
Audit & Compliance
Serve as a primary point of contact during audits
Prepare audit documentation and ensure adherence to financial controls
Implement improvements based on audit feedback
Tax & Regulatory Filings
Prepare and review sales, use, and other state/local tax filings
Ensure all tax submissions are timely and accurate
Keep up to date with changes in financial regulations
Special Projects & Cross-Functional Support
Lead or support ad hoc financial projects and initiatives
Mentor and support junior accounting team members
Partner with other departments to ensure data integrity and transparency
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Masters or CPA preferred)
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including experience in a senior or supervisory role
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks preferred) and advanced Excel skills
Deep understanding of GAAP and internal controls
Strong analytical thinking, organizational skills, and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving
