Maintain accurate and legible field documentation, including sketches, photos, and logs.

Report any irregularities, equipment issues, or safety concerns to the Field Supervisor or Director, ITS Engineering.

Keep all work areas and company vehicles clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.

Use handheld devices or mobile apps to record field data and submit basic reports.

Participate in training related to traffic equipment, safety protocols, and HDOT procedures.

Protect sensitive company and contract information by following internal protocols to ensure confidentiality and security, both digitally and physically.

Additional Responsibilities

Support other GSSI divisions as needed with hands-on fieldwork or logistics, and complete required training to gain cross-divisional knowledge and skills.

Attend training sessions to stay current on traffic data equipment, safety protocols, HDOT procedures, and new technologies.

Coordinate with GSSI service technicians to ensure company vehicles used by the field crew are maintained, safe, and meet operational standards.

Qualifications and Competencies

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred.

Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard procedures.

Comfortable using basic hand tools and mobile technology.

Valid Hawaii driver’s license and clean driving record.

Willing to learn and adhere to safety protocols and operational guidelines.

Basic proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).

Personal Attributes and Skills

Professionalism, integrity, a positive attitude, and a commitment to innovation, excellence, and ethical conduct are expected of all GSSI representatives.

Commitment to upholding and contributing to GSSI’s values and culture.

Team-oriented, respectful, and effective in both internal and external communication.

Adaptable and able to shift gears quickly when plans change.

Willing to take initiative by asking questions when unsure, using available tools to build knowledge, and proactively seeking additional learning and professional development opportunities to improve skills and performance.

Demonstrates a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently after training.

Coachable, eager to learn from others, and motivated to grow within the company.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, near active roadways, and in high-traffic environments, performing physical tasks as required and remaining alert to safety protocols, environmental hazards, and changing field conditions at all times.

Comfortable standing, walking, bending, squatting, or kneeling for extended periods during field setup and inspections.

Able to lift and carry field equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Possesses manual dexterity to operate field tools and use computers or mobile devices.

Ability to communicate clearly via phone or messaging apps to coordinate with the team and report issues.

Visual ability to read traffic data equipment displays, review documentation, and perform field inspections.

Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including high-visibility clothing, safety boots, gloves, and hard hats, as needed.

Must be able to drive between job sites and travel inter-island as required; occasional overnight stays may be necessary.
