Description
Seeking a Database Analyst/Advisor to join our client's team to develop and maintain solutions for querying and matching large amounts of data while continuously enhancing and improving data architecture strategy and database estate.
Responsibilities
Improving system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, query tuning, and integrating new elements and features
Assist various support teams and stakeholders with the design, maintenance, problem resolution and operational troubleshooting of all database components with a user or service experience mindset.
Cross functionally works with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, platform, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues operating in a matrix structure.
Support stakeholders with data infrastructure needs including performing unit tests and code reviews to ensure all code is rigorously designed, elegantly coded, and effectively tuned for performance to provide the highest level of service and user experience. Regularly review database estate for improvements and optimizations including right-sizing for new or current database systems including coordinating with the project team to identify future needs and requirements
Design conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts supporting comprehensive compliance and documentation standards
May coach and review the work of less experienced professionals
Ensure deliverables are completed on time and of high-quality
Requirements
Education/Certifications:
Bachelors degree in computer science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
Snowflake certification is required and must be active
Required Experience:
10+ years of related experience in IT operations & development
Required Technical Skills:
Experience providing Database Admin functions (installing, managing, configuring, upgrading, optimizing, etc.) for cloud-based MSPSC databases which include SQL Server, Oracle, Aurora-Postgres, and MySQL.
Experience managing data in a Snowflake environment
Experience designing and implementing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) solutions for transferring data between various sources and platforms
Experience optimizing the performance of data repositories such as Snowflake and AWS RDS
Experience deploying and configuring tools to monitor and report on the performance of the Snowflake system
Experience creating & managing Snowflake objects, databases, schemas, tables, views, pipes, streams, tasks
User management, Implementation of RBAC best practices
Experience executing day-to-day Snowflake Administration in accordance with industry best-practices.
Experience maintaining an automate first approach reducing toil and overhead by collaborating with data engineers/architects to transform data and integrate algorithms and models into automated processes
Experience maintaining current knowledge of relevant technology and a curiosity for opportunities for improvement, innovation, and cost-reduction
Required Skills and Abilities:
In-depth understanding of database structure principles
Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements
Hands-on experience creating SQLs that will work on an existing Snowflake schema
Hands-on experience with Snowflake Administration, Snowflake development, Snowflake Utilities, Snow SQL, Snow Pipe
Expertise in SQL
Problem-solving mindset
High level of drive, self-motivation and initiative
Experience with source control and automation tools, platforms such as Git/GitHub, and languages such as Python is highly desirable
Experience supporting Federal, civilian and health agencies including experience with claims data is a plus
Preferred Skills:
